Wybralam sie wczoraj na tzw. wholesale market. Jest to rynek, generalnie mowiac, a raczej kilka rynkow.
Jeden jest od warzyw i owocow, tzw. fruit and vegetables market. Sprzedaja tam mnostwo rodzajow owockow i warzyw, o wiele bardziej swiezych i o wiele tanszych niz w supermarkecie.
Arabowie jezdza tam i kupuja toooony zieleniny (Arabowie generalnie kupuja duzo jedzenia, pewnie dlatego, iz maja liczne rodziny, i czesto sie zapraszaja, wiec i jedzenia idzie duzo).

Tuz obok fruit and vegetable market jest fish market, czyli targ z rybami. I innymi owocami morza. Nooo, to to juz jest cos! Sa tam wszystkie mozliwe rodzaje ryb morskich, ktore tylko wystepuja w okolicach Kataru! Sa nawet cale rekiny!! Sa krewetki, male, i takie olbrzymiaste! Kraby! Wszystko swiezutkie, wylowione w nocy z morza.
Oczywiscie ceny tez o wiele nizsze niz w sklepie.

My widzialysmy (ja i Zuzia) owce, barany, kozy… alez duzo tych zwierzat bylo! Nieco w bok byly wielblady, ale nie pytalam, ile kosztuja. Wyobrazcie sobie, Arabowie kupuja takiego barana, zarzynaja go, jada na pustynie, i pieka go na ognisku!
Chetnie proponowali, abym zdjecia robila. Porobilam kilka, jak wywolam, to zamieszcze.
I went yesterday to a wholesale market. It’s a group of few markets.
One is fruit and vegetables market. They sell all kinds of vegs and fruit there, much fresher and cheaper than in a supermarket.
Arabs go there and buy tons of stuff (Arabs in general buy a lot of food, probably because their families are very extended, and they often have parties, so they eat a lot of food).
English people and Americans are mesmerised by the market, because they don’t have anything like this in their countries.
For me it’s a bit like a normal, Polish market, where my mum used to go every Tuesday and Friday, often also on Saturday.
On the market in Qatar there are also, waiting, old men with wheel barrels. When you buy a lot of things, you put it on a barrell, and they take it to your car.

Just next to fruit and vegetable market there is a fish market. Oh, that’s great! There are all possible kinds of sea fish, that can be caught near Qatar! You can buy even sharks there! There are shrimp, and huge king prawns. Crabs. Lobsters. Everything fresh, caught at night in the sea.
Of course prices are much better than in a shop. E.g. for a kilogram of king prawns I paid 40 QR (in Warsaw they cost over 100 PLN), and for a kilo of barracuda (a type of fish) I paid only 8 QR!

If you go a bit further, there is an animal market. We saw (me and Zuzia) sheep, rams, goats… so many of them! A bit on a side there were camels, but I didn’t ask how much they were. Just imagine, Arabs go, buy a ram, kill it, and go to the desert, and cook it over open fire!
When I left the market my whole face was aching, from smiling! Because the people selling animals were talking to me, trying to sell a ram or a sheep to me, were asking where I was from… and I was smiling, saying no thank you, smiling, saying I came from Poland, smiling, saying no thank you….
They all encouraged me to take photos. I took few, when I develop them I’ll put them here.
