Znow ida Idy. Zaczynajac od jutra, mamy trzy dni wolnego. Pamietacie, poprzednie Idy byly na zakonczenie Ramadanu.
Historia jest taka (z Koranu. Prosze o wybaczenie mozliwych niescislosci, historie uslyszalam dzisiaj):
– Ojcze, taka wola Boga, obcinaj.
Eids are coming again. Beginning tomorrow, we have three days of work. Remember, last Eids were at the end of Ramadan.
The story is as follows (from Quran. Forgive my any possible mistakes, I heard the story today).
God asked Ibrahim to cut his son’s head off, as a symbol of Ibrahim’s love to God (Allah?). Ibrahim didn’t know thought, that God wanted to test Ibrahim and his loyalty to God.
Ibrahim discussed things with his son and the son says:
– Father, this is God’s will, cut it off!
At this point God said to Ibrahim, that he doesn’t have to cut his son’s head off, instead, he should kill a lamb, and give the meat to others.
From now on Eids are celebrated, where everybody buys lamb – as much as they can afford, 3, 5 kilograms, and gives this lamb to people who are poor and hungry, so that they can eat it.
And indeed, Muslim do that – buy lamb and give it to poor.
I think this is a very nice and useful idea.
